Chinese New Year is a very popular and great event which is celebrated by Chinese people. There is a traditional holiday in China on this celebration and it is celebrated at the turn of the Chinese calendar. It is also known by the name spring festival in China. Its celebrations are very long, usually from last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar to the 15th day of the first month. It is celebrated widely in China and in many other countries where a significant amount of Chinese population is present. There are great fireworks in China on this event. Everyone enjoy this day by exchanging red paper envelopes with some money in it. Usually red envelopes with money are given by elders and adults to young children.
On the evening there are family reunions and they gather for the annual dinner where there is a union of families. It is also a tradition there that every family clean and cleanse their houses because they believe that by cleansing house they can remove bad luck and make a way for new year incoming good luck. Everyone decorate their home’s windows and doors with red color paper-cuts. Mostly the decorations are red in color.
