The 16th president of United States, he was born on February 12, 1809. He went to school less than a year where he learn who to read and write. As a hard worker and self-educated person he becomes a lawyer. In 1830s and 1840s he was a member of Illinois state legislature on the plate form of Whig party. In 1847s he become the member of House of Representatives where he raised his voice against U.S. war against Mexico. In mid 1850s he left Whig party and join Republican Party. In 1858s he contested for U.S. senate seat against the most popular leader Senator Stephen Douglas. He lost that seat but his performance was very well. Republican Party nominated his as a contender for president.
In his campaign he firmly express his views against slavery. Due to his views he was elected as a President of United State. At that time the country was facing a problem regarding to slavery, the people of northern states wants to abolish slavery but southern was in the favor to make peoples slaves. Abraham Lincoln abolish the slavery and a civil war broke out between southern and northern states and the unity of country was in danger.
